Strategic pavement evaluation for Road Infrastructure

In the road concessions sector, decision-making relies on precise data. The Pavement Evaluation in the CHÍA-MONDOÑEDO-GIRARDOT Corridor, executed by STRINSO for PEDELTA, is an example of how precision engineering and advanced technology come together to optimize infrastructure management.

The main objective is to measure the surface, functional, and structural parameters of the Chía-Mondoñedo-Girardot corridor. To achieve this, the project is divided into two phases:

  1. Phase 1: Evaluation of the Chía-Mondoñedo section, including the Soacha Bypass and the Cota Bypass (approximately 100 km), and the collector roads (148 km).
  2. Phase 2: Evaluation of the Mondoñedo-Girardot section (146 km).

The project covers an extensive road network, demonstrating our capacity to manage large-scale projects:

  • Total length evaluated: 100 km of main roads and 148 km of collector roads in Phase 1, and 146 km in Phase 2 (Mondoñedo-Girardot).
  • Quality inspection: We covered 426 lane-km for IRI and rutting, and 520 measurement points for structural capacity in Phase 1.
  • Detailed analysis: In Phase 2, 256 lane-km were inspected for distress inventory, and 824 points were taken to evaluate structural capacity, along with the performance of 42 test pits.

These numbers represent not only the size of the project, but also the depth and precision of our work—key aspects for any leader seeking to make strategic decisions based on solid data.

We measure the International Roughness Index (IRI), rutting, texture, friction, and structural capacity. These data are vital for understanding highway performance and planning maintenance proactively.

Measurement of layer thicknesses

Through non-destructive technologies, we obtained precise information regarding the thicknesses of the pavement layers, a crucial factor for determining its load capacity and service life.

Surface distress inventory

We conduct a detailed pavement distress inventory and evaluate the Surface Distress Index (Is), providing a clear overview of the preservation condition of the main roads.
