Team Leader / Jr. Project Coordinator

The structural evaluation and Pavement Management System (PMS) update project for the Barranquilla port road corridor analyzes the structural and functional capacity of the rigid pavement along 26.6 km of roadway. With the support of advanced technologies including deflectometers, multifunctional survey vehicles, and friction and roughness measurement systems a comprehensive diagnosis is obtained to identify critical distresses and define maintenance strategies.

Thanks to the P.E.R.S. software, optimized intervention plans are developed to extend the service life of the infrastructure and ensure the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of this strategic corridor for Colombia’s port competitiveness.

Estamos orgullosos de nuestra combinación única de habilidades técnicas, capacidad de ensayos y experiencia en campo, que nos permite llevar a cabo con éxito, proyectos y estudios de ingeniería de pavimentos de naturaleza diversa y desafiante.

This project includes a comprehensive range of specialized services for the structural and functional evaluation of port pavements. Precise measurements are performed for pavement condition index assessment, load transfer evaluation through deflectometry, visual inspections using laser technologies, and friction testing with the British Pendulum Tester. In addition, the P.E.R.S. pavement management system is updated to plan and optimize maintenance and rehabilitation activities based on deterioration models and mechanistic analyses. These services ensure a comprehensive diagnosis, georeferenced data for efficient tracking, and effective management of the port roadway infrastructure.

Servicios Prestados

Surface Pavement Evaluation

Strinso performs an advanced and automated visual inspection of pavement surface conditions using multifunctional vehicles equipped with laser technology to capture 2D and 3D images, measure surface irregularities, rutting, and cracking. This evaluation makes it possible to identify visible distresses, enabling timely preventive decisions and optimizing the safety and durability of the port road corridor.

Pavement Management System (P.E.R.S.) Update

Strinso updates the P.E.R.S. system database with georeferenced information on traffic, pavement distresses, and structural conditions, applying mathematical models to predict future deterioration and optimize maintenance and rehabilitation plans. This data-driven consultancy improves budget efficiency and supports informed decision-making for the road concession.

Skid Resistance (Friction) Measurement

Strinso uses specialized equipment such as the British Pendulum Tester to measure pavement friction, which is essential for preventing hydroplaning accidents and ensuring road safety under wet conditions. This analysis is critical for maintaining braking performance and vehicle maneuverability along the port corridor.

Structural Pavement Evaluation

This service includes an in-depth analysis of the pavement’s structural capacity, using heavy deflectometry with Dynatest HWD 8082 technology to measure load transfer and determine the resilient moduli of pavement layers. The structural evaluation supports the calculation of the pavement’s remaining service life, enabling the development of targeted maintenance plans that extend the lifespan of the infrastructure.

Functional Pavement Evaluation

Using advanced technologies, the International Roughness Index (IRI), texture, and longitudinal pavement profile are measured to evaluate the functional quality of the roadway surface. This assessment helps ensure adequate comfort and safety for road users, while also serving as a reference for quality control in construction and rehabilitation processes.
